Choosing web hosting in Sweden is harder than it should be, because every provider says the same thing: “fast”, “secure”, “Swedish support”, “GDPR-compliant”. The real differences matter a lot in practice, but they rarely show up in the marketing. This guide walks through six Swedish-market web hosts and what you actually get for your money, written for readers who are not necessarily Swedish but want their site hosted in Sweden.
Short answer
- Loopia: one of the largest, part of the European team.blue group; you are one of a very large number of customers.
- Oderland: solid technical level, Swedish-owned, slightly more expensive, good for developers.
- Binero: no longer sells web hosting; it sold that business to Loopia in 2019 and now focuses on IT services and cloud for businesses.
- One.com: large European provider, own platform, hosted in its own data centres in Europe.
- FS Data: now part of Miss Hosting.
- Adminor: Swedish B2B operator with its own AS number, operations in ISO 27001-certified colocation facilities in Stockholm (Västberga and Solna); premium positioning but reasonably priced for businesses.
For a personal blog / hobby site: Loopia or One.com is enough. For business / e-commerce / GDPR-sensitive data: Oderland or Adminor. For developers / agencies who need control: Adminor or Oderland.
What actually matters
Before the comparison, here is what matters in practice, especially if you are choosing a Swedish host from abroad:
- Where is the data stored? GDPR and Schrems II have made this a legal question, not just a technical one. A host “in Sweden” should be able to tell you which city and facility.
- Who owns the company? Swedish-owned vs foreign-owned affects which law applies.
- Real support, in a language you can use. Not just “we have Swedish support”, but who actually answers, how fast, and whether they will do it in English.
- Price after renewal, not the introductory price. Many providers raise the price sharply after the first year.
- Moving out. How easy is it to leave? That tells you something about the provider’s confidence.
- Real performance. Marketing figures often mislead. TTFB (time to first byte) for your actual visitors is what counts.
Comparison
Loopia
One of Sweden’s largest web hosts. Started in 1999 under the name NetConnect and today administers more than 800,000 domain names, according to its own site. Loopia is part of team.blue, a European group with 60+ brands.
Pros:
- Wide range, from basic hosting to VPS and dedicated servers
- Own domain registrar, convenient all-in-one
- Established support organisation
- Price negotiation possible if you threaten to leave
Cons:
- You are one of a very large number of customers; support can feel impersonal
- Price increases after the first year are common
- Own control panel (Loopia’s) means lock-in if you want to move
- Part of a large international group (team.blue)
Good for: Standard WordPress, hobby sites, small businesses with basic needs.
Oderland
100% Swedish-owned, in business since 1998 and based in Gothenburg. According to its own site, all data is stored in its own data centres in Sweden.
Pros:
- Solid technical level, strong Linux expertise
- Clear pricing without bait offers
- Developer tools (SSH, Git, WP-CLI) available on all web hosting plans
Cons:
- Somewhat more expensive than Loopia
- Less capacity for very large customers
Good for: Developers, agencies, businesses that want data stored in Sweden.
Binero
Binero sold its web hosting business (Binero AB, Space2U Webhosting AB and Servage GmbH) to Loopia; the deal was completed on 31 August 2019. Today Binero’s own site presents it as an ISO 27001-certified provider of IT services, cloud and security for businesses, with all customer data handled in Sweden.
What this means for you: Binero is no longer a direct alternative if you are looking specifically for shared web hosting. It is still relevant if you want a Swedish IT-services and cloud partner for a larger organisation.
One.com
European provider, in business since 2002, large in the Nordics and across Europe.
Pros:
- Low-cost entry plans
- Large feature bundle at every tier
- Polished WordPress installation
- Drag-and-drop website builder
Cons:
- Hosting in its own data centres “in Europe”: the site does not promise that your data stays in Sweden
- Check the renewal price, not just the first-period offer
- Support is good but not deeply technical
- Own control panel means lock-in
Good for: Private individuals and hobby sites. Less suitable for GDPR-sensitive data.
FS Data
FS Data is now part of Miss Hosting. According to Miss Hosting’s site, the two have long been in the same group, and FS Data customers keep the same technicians, services and login details as before.
Worth knowing: Miss Hosting offers web hosting and WordPress hosting. In September 2026 its two smallest plans were discounted 75% for the first 12 months, so compare the ordinary price that applies after that.
Good for: Existing FS Data customers, and small sites where a low first-year price matters.
Adminor
Operations and hosting company since 1983. Smaller than the competition but with a technical profile.
Pros:
- Own AS number (AS51701) and own IP blocks, peering at STHIX/SONIX
- Operations in ISO 27001-certified colocation facilities in Stockholm (Västberga and Solna), not a reseller
- Broader service portfolio (colocation, dedicated servers, BGP, IP leasing)
- A long-established company with stable ownership (since 1983)
- Support in Swedish and English by email and phone, with deep technical expertise
- Open source stack (ISPConfig control panel, no lock-in)
Cons:
- Less marketing presence
- Premium positioning, not the cheapest in a price war
- B2B focus: less consumer-oriented interfaces
Good for: Businesses that need more than web hosting (email, VPS, colocation from one provider), developers who want SSH and WP-CLI, organisations with GDPR/data residency as a hard requirement.
Price comparison 2026 (ordinary prices)
Ordinary monthly prices in SEK for each provider’s three main web hosting plans, as listed on the providers’ own sites in September 2026. Plans differ in content, so treat this as a starting point and check current prices and terms before ordering.
| Provider | Plans (ordinary price, SEK/month) | First-year offer? |
|---|---|---|
| Loopia | 159 / 279 / 489 excl. VAT | Yes: 39 / 39 / 99 SEK/month the first year |
| Oderland | 157 / 314 / 615 excl. VAT | No introductory discount shown; 14-day free trial |
| Binero | No longer sells web hosting | – |
| One.com | Not shown on its static pricing page; see one.com | Check the renewal price |
| Miss Hosting (FS Data) | 129 / 199 / 349 excl. VAT (billed yearly) | Yes: 75% off the first 12 months on the two smallest plans |
| Adminor | 49 / 149 / 299 excl. VAT | Same price from month one, no first-year discount |
Adminor lists one price per plan and does not run first-year discounts. We think clear prices are better than a low entry price that rises at renewal. That means Adminor may not be the cheapest in year one against a heavily discounted first year elsewhere, but compare what you pay from year two onwards. See the full plan details on Adminor web hosting.
What should you actually ask before choosing?
Ten questions that filter out poor hosting:
- Where is my data physically stored? (Sweden, EU, or outside?)
- Who owns the company? (Swedish or foreign?)
- What is the default PHP version? (Should be 8.2 or 8.3 at minimum)
- Is OPcache enabled? (Yes, always; otherwise the hosting is outdated)
- Is Redis available? (For WordPress it makes a big difference)
- Which control panel? (ISPConfig/cPanel = good and portable; proprietary = lock-in)
- What happens if I want to leave? (Free export? Migration help?)
- What SLA is guaranteed? (99.9% is the minimum in 2026)
- Backup retention? (At least 14 days, preferably 30)
- Which support hours and which languages? (Not just “we have Swedish support”: when, and can they help you in English?)
Put these questions to every provider in the list above and you will get a much clearer picture of what you are actually paying for.
When is web hosting NOT the right choice?
Web hosting (shared hosting) is the wrong choice when:
- The site is business-critical e-commerce with 50,000+ unique visitors per month (then you need a VPS or managed hosting)
- You need specific OS or software requirements (you need a VPS or a dedicated server)
- Compliance requires isolation from other customers (PCI DSS, some GDPR interpretations)
- You run 10+ separate WordPress sites (managed WordPress or a VPS is often cheaper in total)
If you are at that point, see our VPS Sweden comparison 2026 and managed vs unmanaged hosting.
Summary
For 2026, our honest recommendation:
- Private individual / hobby: One.com, Loopia or Miss Hosting; compare the price after the first year.
- Small business, standard WordPress: Loopia or Adminor.
- B2B with a GDPR focus or developer needs: Adminor or Oderland.
- Large company, enterprise requirements: Adminor, or an IT-services and cloud provider such as Binero.
- Agency with many client sites: Adminor or Oderland.
Adminor web hosting starts at 49 SEK/month (excl. VAT), and that is the price you keep paying: no first-year discount that jumps at renewal. You pay for a Swedish operator with its own AS number, operations in ISO 27001-certified colocation facilities in Stockholm and deep technical expertise, not for aggressive marketing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which web hosting provider in Sweden is best in 2026?
It depends on what you need. For a personal blog or hobby site, Loopia or One.com is enough. For businesses, e-commerce or GDPR-sensitive data, look at Oderland or Adminor. For developers and agencies who need control (SSH, WP-CLI, a portable control panel), Adminor or Oderland.
Why host a website in Sweden if I am not Swedish?
Sweden is inside the EU, so personal data stored on a Swedish server stays under EU jurisdiction and GDPR. Hosting in Stockholm also gives the lowest latency to Swedish and Nordic visitors. If your audience or your legal obligations are in Sweden or the EU, a Swedish host with a published data centre location is the simplest route.
Do Swedish web hosts offer support in English?
Many do, but not all say so clearly on their English pages, and support quality in English varies. Ask before you order: which languages, which hours, and whether the person answering can actually fix technical problems. Adminor provides support in Swedish and English by email and phone.
Why do renewal prices matter more than introductory prices?
Several providers discount the first year heavily. On their own sites in September 2026, Loopia’s Privat plan costs 39 SEK/month in the first year and 159 SEK/month excl. VAT after that, and Miss Hosting (which FS Data is now part of) gives 75% off the first 12 months on its two smallest plans. Compare the price you will pay in year two and onwards, not the first-year offer.
When is shared web hosting the wrong choice?
When the site is business-critical e-commerce with 50,000+ unique visitors per month, when you need specific OS or software requirements, when compliance requires isolation from other customers (PCI DSS, some GDPR interpretations), or when you run 10+ separate WordPress sites. In those cases a VPS or managed hosting is usually the better fit.
